Slow Progress

Slow progress is better than no progress, right? Slow progress can be better than fast progress if it is deliberate.

We are becoming an impatient nation whereby we even get frustrated when our train is delayed on our commute to work.

I see many entrepreneurs who get discouraged when they don’t grow their business quickly enough or don’t receive the lump sum funding they deserve.

That’s not how life usually works, it is a game of inches. It requires us to put one foot in front of the other, and step by step we eventually achieve more than we anticipated because we focused on direction over speed.

As an angel investor, I am under no illusion that some startups I’ve invested in could take 7 years to succeed at scale. Upon reflection, the most satisfying achievements in my life have taken several years.

From watching my daughter grow (now six) to saving up to purchase my first property (four years). I made my first angel investment when I was 27.

So whether you are building a business, cultivating a meaningful relationship or raising a family. Slow progress can lead to incredible achievements.

If you accept the reality of slow progress, you will focus on making every day count, knowing it will one day compound into something bigger. However, if you constantly look for shortcuts in life, in 7 years…… You will just be 7 years older still figuring out ‘how to get rich quick.’
